We love a challenge and whether it’s refurbishing a bike back to it’s long-lost best or sourcing a frame and building a bike up to your wishes we relish the chance to get creative and put something special together.
A few examples of what we have done for customer’s in the past, please get in touch if you’d like to discuss a custom build.
Cluad Butler mixte – full refurbishment
Stripped, blasted and repainted Claud Butler mixte frame made from Reynolds 531, lovely two tone paint job and a selection of lightly used period Campagnolo components. Wheels comprise large flange Campagnolo Victory hubs laced to Mavic Module E 27″ rims shod with Panaracer Pasela skinwall tyres, a Campagnolo seat post, leather saddle and classic ‘North Road’ bars and Dia Compe levers finish the bike off to a high standard. This bike is both a capable commuter as well as a head-turning weekend bike appropriate for a L’eroica event.
Sycip Custom road – modern groupset upgrade
Starting with a superb early 90s Sycip frame hand built in California this bike was put together with a new carbon fibre fork for weight saving and comfort and classic shaped bars and steel stem. Wheels are handbuilt from the legendary Mavic CXP33 sourced NOS laced to 11 speed compatible Shimano 105 5800 hubs with double butted spokes, Panaracer Pasela tyres look great and cut down the risk of punctures. A brand new 11 speed Shimano 105 groupset means this bike performs like a modern bike without the soul-less hydro-formed tube look. The best of both Worlds.
Roy Thame pursuit – single speed conversion
We often receive requests for an every day bike that will be comfortable, low maintenance and is built with some quality, but doesn’t cost the earth. This is a great example built up with a really lovely Roy Thame branded Reynolds 531 frame set, original stem, bars, brakes and headset. We removed the geared components and replaced the bottom bracket with a sealed bearing Shimano unit, added a single ring chainset, KMC chain and freewheel. The wheels are hand-built large flange hubs with sealed bearings laced to chrome effect Rigida rims, naturally we fitted Panaracer Paselas for their superior puncture protection (and the look!).
